Our Services - Learning

Interactive and participatory, formal and informal

We deliver a wide range of training at all levels from field worker to senior management. This can be through a variety of formats including formal lecturing, practical workshops, facilitation of group learning and information exchange, as well as more interactive methods such as forum theatre and participatory techniques.

Our main areas of training are in:

  • Community development techniques
  • Rural development process management
  • Developing strategic programmes from local community level upwards
  • Sustainable environmental management
  • Participatory approaches and techniques
  • Academic lecturing (e.g. Community Forestry course at Oxford University {OFI})

Ground-breaking

Since establishing, we have provided support to a number of national and international programmes. In particular this has drawn on our practical experience in:

    • Training needs analysis and training delivery
    • Establishing community focused programmes
    • Our scientific background applied in a community context
    • Our knowledge of small business development
    • Our environmental knowledge
    • Participatory approaches in natural resource management
    • Course appraisal and development, and training material production

Through our work we have developed knowledge in unusual areas such as peer to peer training, feasibility studies of intermediate labour market consultancy projects and consortium trading for rural product.
